LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is a remastered bundle of two games, LEGO Star Wars, which contains content based on the Star Wars prequels, and Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, which (as you might guess) contains content based on the original trilogy. The game is full of simple, energetic humor, with the LEGO versions of your favorite Srtar Wars characters getting up to all sorts of crazy antics that aren't quite what you saw in the movies. In LEGO Star Wars: TCS, you get to play as all of your favorite Star Wars characters as you progress through the story. Each character has their own unique abilities and moves. At first, you'll be limited to playing as characters who were canonically present during the events of each film. After you've beaten a level once, however, you can go back and play as just about anyone you can imagine from the Star Wars films, even minor characters you might not have heard of. This gives you quite a lot of flexibility in terms of what you can do, allowing you to try out some non-canonical combinations to better suit your style. Each level in LEGO Star Wars has a goal, but in many ways, the real goal is to collect things. There are a number of collectibles: basic studs, red bricks, minikits, and gold bricks, each of which unlocks something different in the Mos Eisley Cantina, which serves as the game's hub. Basic studs let you buy characters, minikits let you assemble vehicles you can use on special levels, and red bricks allow you to turn on optional modifiers. These include things like powerups and cheats that can make the game feel totally different as you go back through each level. In order to collect everything, you'll need to play through levels multiple times. This is because each level has different sections that can only be accessed by some types of characters. You'll need to play as droids, jedi, and more in order to get to all of these rooms and flush out all of the collectibles. You don't have to collect everything, of course, but the game is so fun that you'll find the process quite enjoyable. Lego Star Wars mixes things up with plenty of vehicle levels, including space battles, podracing, and the climactic snow-based battle of Hoth. All of these are intuitive, simple, and lots of fun. It's impressive how well the Lego Star Wars team captured the epic feel of the Star Wars universe with every level, including the big vehicle ones. You'll really feel like you're recreating parts of the movies with a LEGO playset. The music, sound effects, and other details in Lego Star Wars are straight from the films. The dialogue, however, is not, and that's a good thing. Most characters communicate with gestures and the occasional grunt. They've still got plenty of personality, but their limitations in self-expression mean that cutscenes are quirky, short, and fun, even if you've seen the movies more than once. It's a great change that helps add both replay value and character to the game. LEGO Star Wars is great on your own, but it's even better with friends and family. This is definitely a game that's amazing to play with another person, and it's designed for players of all ages and skill levels. While some of the boss battles might take a bit longer with a young child in the player 2 slot, this isn't a game where you're likely to get frustrated at each other. It's a perfect way to relax and spend time with anyone, regardless of how good they are at video games.
